Students at Cornell consistently rank "contact with Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassadors (CAAAN)" among the top reasons they selected Cornell. Each year approximately 150 students from Miami and the Florida Keys apply to Cornell. For many of these students, the CAAAN is the only "personal" contact they have with Cornell.
CAAAN members serve a dual role in the application process by not only providing information to high school seniors about Cornell, but also providing the selection committee at Cornell additional insights regarding the applicant. In addition to attending receptions, conducting one-on-one interviews and providing timely written reports of those interviews to the Cornell Admissions Office, CAAAN members' responsibilities include:
- Assisting students and their parents with the admissions process
- Contacting accepted students, offering congratulations, and determining if there is anything you can do to help them in the decision process.
- Presenting Cornell book awards at selected high schools
- Manning the Cornell table at area college fairs If you are interested in becoming a member of CAAAN, please contact Rodrigo Tsutsumi at (305) 679-3129 (email: RTSUTSUM@hyatt.com) or contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office.
